TeaTime editor Lorna Reeves invites you to experience the breathtaking enchantment of France during the holiday season with a bespoke journey through Paris and Strasbourg, complete with a magical stay at the magnificent Ritz Paris. From elegant afternoon teas and immersive culinary workshops to festive Christmas markets and exceptional tea experiences, this curated retreat celebrates the artistry, warmth, and traditions of tea during Noël.

Guests will enjoy luxurious accommodations, exclusive tea-focused experiences, and the opportunity to savor the magic of France at its most beautiful time of year. Highlights include afternoon tea at the legendary Ritz Paris, a tea-pairing masterclass with celebrated tea expert Carine Baudry, a festive Bûches de Noël baking class, and visits to renowned tea purveyors in Alsace.

Accommodations are provided at five-star properties, including the Ritz Paris, Le Grand Mazarin, and Hôtel Maison Rouge.

The retreat is limited to 20 participants.

Each registered participant will receive a one-year subscription to TeaTime. Current subscribers may choose to extend their subscription or gift it to someone special.

Please note that this retreat includes navigating cobblestone streets, crowded public areas, and busy train stations. Participants must be able to manage their own luggage independently, including carrying bags through train stations and boarding and exiting trains without assistance. Please note that during the holiday market season, Strasbourg’s city center is closed to traffic, so there is no direct vehicle access to the hotel.

Tuesday, December 1 | Paris

Arrive in Paris and settle into elegant accommodations at Le Grand Mazarin, a luxurious property located in the heart of the historic Marais district. Later in the afternoon, gather with fellow guests for a welcome afternoon tea as we toast the festive adventures ahead and begin our memorable holiday journey through France.

Wednesday, December 2 | Paris

For today’s experiences, we will split into two groups to celebrate the delicious pairing of tea and French culinary artistry.

One group will begin with an exclusive tea-pairing masterclass led by renowned tea expert Carine Baudry at her atelier in Paris. Guests will discover the nuances of pairing fine teas with carefully selected cheeses or chocolates during this intimate and interactive experience.

The other group will participate in a festive Bûches de Noël baking class at La Cuisine Paris. Participants will create their own traditional French holiday cake. The class concludes with a tasting of the finished desserts paired with teas incorporated into the recipes, offering a delicious exploration of holiday flavors and tea traditions.

Groups will switch activities mid-day, allowing all guests to enjoy both memorable culinary experiences before returning to Le Grand Mazarin for the evening.

Thursday, December 3 | Strasbourg

Following breakfast, we’ll board a train to Strasbourg, the storybook capital of Alsace and one of Europe’s most celebrated holiday destinations. Upon arrival, guests will settle into accommodations at Hôtel Maison Rouge, ideally situated for exploring the city’s enchanting holiday festivities.

That afternoon, we’ll visit Au Fond du Jardin, a beloved tea salon known for its elaborate décor, refined hospitality, and inventive “traveling” madeleines.

Friday, December 4 | Strasbourg

Today is devoted to discovering the famed holiday markets of Strasbourg, where twinkling lights, festive decorations, handcrafted gifts, and seasonal treats transform the city into a magical winter wonderland.

We’ll also enjoy a bespoke visit to Nana Ding Thés d’Exception, an exceptional tea boutique offering thoughtfully curated teas from around the world. Guests will have the opportunity to sample teas and learn more about the shop’s unique philosophy and sourcing practices.

Saturday, December 5 | Strasbourg

Today, we’ll explore the delightful Christmas markets in other nearby towns, where festively decorated chalets, seasonal delicacies, and Alsatian holiday traditions create an unforgettable atmosphere. After time to explore and shop, we’ll return to Strasbourg for a private afterhours visit to Le Thé des Muses, a renowned teashop whose warm atmosphere and carefully selected teas have made it a favorite of tea lovers for more than two decades, where we’ll sample an array of their unique tisanes.

Sunday, December 6 | Paris

We’ll return to Paris by train and conclude our journey in grand style with an unforgettable afternoon tea at the iconic Ritz Paris, an experience that perfectly captures the elegance and refinement of the French tea tradition.

Guests will spend the evening luxuriating in the splendid accommodations at the Ritz and exploring Paris at their leisure during the festive holiday season.

Monday, December 7 | Paris

Check out and depart for home or your next destination with treasured memories of the holiday in France.

All bookings for this retreat are final and nonrefundable under all circumstances. For this reason, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers trip cancellation, interruption, illness, and other unexpected events. You agree that you will not initiate a charge-back or payment dispute for amounts properly charged in accordance with this policy.

If you choose not to purchase travel insurance, you understand and agree that you are responsible for all costs or losses related to trip interruptions.

Changes, Cancellations & Unforeseen Events

We are not responsible for expenses related to travel delays, cancellations, illness, injury, or other events beyond our control, including but not limited to weather, government actions, and airline or transportation issues.

In the event that we must cancel this retreat due to circumstances beyond our control, our liability will be limited to a refund of amounts paid to us, or a credit toward a future retreat, at our discretion. We are not responsible for additional expenses such as airfare, lodging, or other travel costs.

Health & Travel Risks

Travel involves inherent risks, including the risk of exposure to communicable illnesses. By booking this retreat, you acknowledge these risks and agree to assume responsibility for your own health and safety during the trip.

If you become ill during the retreat, particularly with a suspected or confirmed contagious condition, the group leaders may require you to modify or end your participation if they reasonably believe your presence poses a health or safety risk to other participants. In such cases, no refund or credit will be provided. 

Program Changes

Due to circumstances beyond our control, certain activities, instructors, services, or amenities may be modified, substituted, or unavailable. Such changes do not constitute grounds for a refund, but we will work tirelessly to make sure you have the best experience possible.

What airport should I fly into?

Can I arrive early or extend my stay?
If you would like to inquire about additional nights, please email ttevents@hoffmanmedia.com. Requests for early check-in or late check-out will be made on your behalf but cannot be guaranteed.

Is breakfast included?
Daily breakfast is included.

Will double-occupancy rooms have two separate beds? Due to the hotels’ unique European charm and design, some double-occupancy rooms feature one shared bed rather than two separate beds. However, two sets of linens for the bed can be provided upon request for added comfort.

Are children able to attend this retreat? All participants must be 18 years old or older to attend this retreat. 

Will there be free time during the retreat?
The itinerary has been thoughtfully designed to allow for leisure time in Paris and Strasbourg. Guests are encouraged to explore, relax, shop, or enjoy optional experiences, such as spa services.

What should I pack for the retreat?
We recommend smart casual attire with comfortable walking shoes for sightseeing and excursions. For guided tours and outdoor activities, wear clothing suitable for changing weather. Semi-formal attire is preferred for both afternoon teas in Paris.

Are meals included?
Some meals are included. Most lunches and some dinners are on your own, allowing flexibility to explore local dining.

Is travel insurance required?
Travel insurance is not required but is strongly recommended. The retreat is nonrefundable, and travel insurance may help protect against unforeseen changes or interruptions.
